Garden of Eden
This myth of the Fall, which divorces Heaven from Earth, along with Cartesian dualism which divides mind from body and humankind from Nature, has brought humanity to the brink of self-extinction. Also, this story has done more to shape gender relations in countries that have been dominated by the three Monotheistic Religions — Judaism, Christianity, Islam. While these liberalized in some branches, allowing women more participation and power, this univesally known and accepted story still upholds the demonization of women. The Tree and the Snake representing nature further make Nature as evil and to be feared.
